Ronald Cup Final 2nd May 2008 - Bad result for the reserves losing 5-0 to a very strong Buckland Athletic side, but one hell of a night out afterwards anyway!!

27th April 2008

Buckfastleigh Rangers Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Darren Raven as their first team manager as of next season.
Darren is currently battling for a record third consecutive league title with Wessex Lopes Arms Rangers in the Plymouth and West Devon Combination league, where he has been for the last 7 years. He boasts an impressive managerial record, having won virtually every trophy available in local football, and is eager for success at South West Peninsula league level.

Here is what Darren had to say following his meeting with the BRFC committee:
"I always remember when Buckfastleigh Rangers were one of the top teams in Devon and there was a great buzz around the club at the time, it is my aim to bring those good times back and see the club back where it belongs, challenging for honours and silverware.
I have made some great friends at Wessex and I will be leaving them as the top local club. I know whoever takes over there will work as hard as the committee to keep the club where they are. I have taken Wessex as far as I can but I will always cherish the good times and the succes I have had with them."

Darren will be joined by Steve Turner as Assistant Manager, who has been with Darren as a player for the past 7 years.

25th April 2008

Following the resignation of Chairman/1st team Manager Andy Horn, the committee would like to thank Kevin Light and Glen De Young for their hard work and commitment in keeping the 1st team together for their remaining fixtures.
Although the results have been bad it has been a great effort just to fulfill these fixtures and avoid the three-figured fine that we as a club would receive if these games did not go ahead.
Also a big thanks to all of the reserve team players who have stepped in to play despite having so many of their own midweek fixtures to fulfill.

Just keep it going until the end of the season lads and then we can look forward to starting a fresh next season.

12th March 2008

The final of the Ronald cup between our 2nd team and Buckland Athletic reserves will be played at Liverton on Friday the 2nd of May (6:30pm kick off).

We would like to see all 1st team players, committee members and anyone else you can bring along there to show your support for the reserves.

4th February 2008

A big well done to the 1st team for an excellent 3-1 win over Appledore at the weekend, see match report for full details.

Another frustrating weekend for the reserves with their game yet again postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Congratulation to the 2nd team for reaching the final of the Ronald cup. Dave Pearson and Rob Wotton both scored to give them a 2-0 win over Meadowbrook. See reserve team section for the full report.

November 2007

After the shock departure of Paul Osborne at the end of the 2006/07 season, Rangers appointed former 1st team coach Alan Lewis as their new 1st team manager and Richard Wood as his assistant, with them came a host of new faces but the partnership was short lived as Wood parted company with the club early in the season. Lewis continued as manager until November when he handed in his resignation to take up a coaching role at Clyst Rovers.

The club have not wasted any time in finding a replacement for Lewis and secured the services of Mark Nicholls as 1st team manager. Nicholls brings a wealth of Devon League knowledge and experience with him and the club are delighted to welcome him on board.

18th June 2007

Buckfastleigh Rangers are committed to football development within the club and with this in mind it has been decided to ensure that the development starts at junior level with progression over time to possibly first team status.

The way forward has been discussed at length by the committee and we are pleased to announce that Mr Kevin Light an F.A Qualified level 2 coach formally with Ivybridge Town Juniors has been appointed as head of youth development.

Kevin has wasted no time since his appointment and has already taken steps to gain entry to the Pioneer league at U16 and U14 level.

Kevin is now keen to hear from interested parties, preferably with experience at playing at club level, not already signed to a club, interested in joining any of the teams, trials will be arranged in the near future in preparation for the 2007/8 season.

Please contact Kevin on 01752 893799 or Mobile on 07721955506
